Round 1 Hampton Downs Sunday 4th September 2022

A slightly overcast, decidedly cool and a damp track greeted NMC and the Racing Saloons who were unlucky enough to be first up. Qualifying went without incident however with all driver successfully coping with the tricky conditions. It was great to see Ross Golding back in his Marlboro Commodore and Troy Guise in his Dick Johnson Falcon after a long absence.
Fastest NMC car as Kayton is his silver HQ 4 door Monaro followed by Tony in his Charger and then Paul who was running his Group A Mustang to sort out a few handling issues.

Race 1 did not go without incident as Ross’s Commodore stalled on the line and would not restart, it was pushed away and did eventually re-join the race. Kayton retired his Monaro with overheating issues but was to return later in the day. Tony G was the eventual winner with Troy coming home 2nd and then Allan Pearce is his Commodore. Andrew Ross being the only Class B car to make an appearance was next.

Race 2 was won easily by Kayton who may have benefited from some favourable handicapping.
Andrew Ross in the Pinepac Falcon was second followed by Paul in the Mustang with severe traction issues later correctly diagnosed as “the tires are stuffed”.

Race 3 was another successful one for Troy with the big green Falcon leading everyone home followed by Tony, Andrew and Paul. Kayton retired on lap 7 and Allan has not made the start.
All in all a very modest start to our new season.

The points after round 1 are
Class A: 1st Troy Guise, 2nd Tony Galbraith , 3rd Kayton Coughey
Class B: 1st Andrew Ross
