The weather was fine and we had a good turnout of cars including Tony Galbraith and Calvin Andrew who were racing for their 3rd weekend in a row as well as competing at Bathurst well done guys.
Qualifying was lead by Tony G for Class A then Billy Dunn with Dave Campbell 3rd fastest. Class B was headed by Paul Burnet, then Mark Stretton and Michael Crawley.
Race one was our scratch race where the fast guys made their way to the front with the finishing order of the top three being the order in which they qualified Calvin and Colin Schischka got their acts sorted out and came home next. There was a good battle between Paul B and Ron Findlay with Ron coming out on top. There was unfortunately one DNF in this race with the front rotor hat on Tony Mckenzie Edwards failing but without fortunately disastrous results, it did however put Tony M out for the rest of the meeting.
Race two was our first handicap and as with all good handicaps the results were never clear until the flag finally fell which left Michael Crawley from Class B 1st with Ron from the Invitation Class in second with Stu Rowling also from Class B third. Unfortunately the Class B points leader Mark Stretton in the XM Falcon did not manage to start this race due to a broken Watts linkage.
Race 3 was another handicap with the field being reduced by one more member, Billy Dunn whose Camaro had started to smoke a bit. This race was again won by Michael C with Tony G 2nd and Stu 3rd.
It was a great day with some good times recorded Tony G 1:10.1, Dave C 1:12.4 and Colin S with a 1:13.5.
The placings at the end of Round 3 are:
Class A Billy Dunn (320), Tony Galbraith (244), Dave Campbell (222)
Class B Paul Burnet (283), Michael Crawley (244),Mark Stretton (226)
Invitation Class Ron Findlay (248)
Our next race will be at Pukekohe and is the replacement meeting for Thunder in the Park called the Carnival and will be held on the 11th and 12th of February.
