Well the new season seems to have come around very quickly, too quick for some members whose cars/engines are still being prepared. We did however have two new members Mark Stratton and Dave Campbell get to the track with their cars and almost Robbo Robinson with his car but the evil work had first call on his time. It was good to welcome back Stu and Billy to the class again.

Weather was good but track was a bit damp and cold for qualifying however all (except Billy) managed to get out on the track and post a time.

Our 1st race was the usual scratch race with Tony G being the fastest muscle car in his last outing before the mighty Charger heads to Bathurst to battle it out with the Aussies. The race was completed without incident although Pinky did manage to spin out on the warm up lap (whoops). Billy came through from the rear of the field to finish in 4th behind Tony G, Alan and Dave.

The second race was a handicap which unfortunately was interrupted by a Safety Car when Graham could not quite get the Charger back to the pits with an electrical gremlin causing him to retire for the day. The race eventually got restarted, with the overall winner being Paul in the Pink Torana, followed by Tony G and Michael in the Commodore.

The 3rd race was also a handicap one and was also impacted by electrical issues with Paul’s car having too low battery voltage causing it to retire on the warm up lap. None of this seemed to impact Billy in the blue Camaro who raced through the field to take the lead by about the 4th lap and was never headed.

There were the usual refreshments after the meeting which seemed to be enjoyed by all.
